Mask

"Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth."

    1. Beedu, technically, we're always wearing some sort of a mask or the other, except when we're with people that we trust completely. Amidst these people we don't feel the need to pretend or act otherwise.

and you can always open up.. again, with people you trust and have faith in :)

  3. Um. I don't think Layla got the point. LOL

This is very true; people, when they have to be themselves, baulk at being true, because they're constantly trying to meet expectations, of those who 'know' them, and have an already set image of who they should be, and are trying to blend in with that rather than open up the other doors to who they really are and who they really can be. Or, a lot of times, people are afraid of others finding out who they really are, and hold back.

    2. The only time people are afraid of others finding out who they really are, in my opinion is when they have something to hide..lets say on the spice channel as you guys aptly put it, we don't need to show a bunch of strangers our true selves :P

I don't know where I'm going with this Lol but wanted to say it hehe

  4. masks can be cathartic too ... a guy (or gal) with a physically deformed face would almost certainly be shunned in real life (true but sadly a reality) ... in a chat room type setting though he/she could really blossom and become the life of da party .. n everyone (including themselves) would see a side of the person that they would never see before :D

....there is of course the negative side where people put on anonymous identities and abuse ... but i choose to ignore the negatives :P

    1. Yup :D That's what I was thinking exactly. I think that's the whole idea of Masquerades - it gives that anonymity that allows a person to be that someone they aren't.. by 'public decree'.

And yea about the negative side, well even the positive - even though it's not a side of ourselves we aren't without the masks, it IS still us.
